Patients complete the Headache Diary.
The app automatically generates the type of headache per day.
The app generates a proposed diagnosis after 30 days.
The app supports the monitoring period
Medical Dashboard
The Algorithm
Based on the validated "Basic Diagnostic Headache Diary" (Jensen, Cephalalgia 2011) and elaborated on by Drs P. van Haaren, clinical informaticist in his master's thesis.
Headache Diary measures:
- frequency of headaches
- type of headache
- medication (over)use
- restrictions (HALT-30)
- triggers
- the effects of treatment (CGRP monitoring)
The scientifically proven algorithm of Curavista uses these measurements to classify headache (days) into migraine, tension headache or medication-overuse headache.
"We see patients in whom the number of headache days has been reduced from 15 to five days per month. Ten days gain in disease burden, easily achieved and at lower cost"
- Prof Dr Mulleners, neurologist Canisius Wilhelmina Hospital
Advantages
No more handwritten diaries!
- Structured and validated.
- Waiting time is utilised by letting the patient fill in the first 30 days in advance.
- Review results online.
Dashboard is also available as a PDF, to print or paste into EPD.
The app works on any smartphone.
The patient also sees the measurements. This supports the conversation with the healthcare provider.
Data management and technical helpdesk is the responsibility of Curavista.

Headache is a Module that runs on the Curavista.health platform. As a healthcare provider, you request a professional account, which allows you to monitor an unlimited number of patients.
How to use the module?
- Healthcare provider enters patient details (can be done automatically via EHR) and selects care pathway.
Curavista.health sends an email with login details to the patient.
Usually the patient starts with the diagnosis phase of 30 days, which is quite intensive.
This is followed by the monitoring phase in 30-day periods.
You can also start with the monitoring phase immediately.
Patient receives daily push notification as a reminder.

"With the overview, I now have the ability to look at my symptoms with perspective. It turns out that things are often better than I initially think."

Studies conducted
Analyses of initial results in collaboration with Prof Dr W. Mulleners, neurologist affiliated to Radboud University Medical Centre.
Headache Diary, Useful and Accepted
We tested the usability and usefulness of the basic diagnostic headache diary (BDHD) for the diagnosis of migraine, tension-type headache and medication-overuse headaches.
